Aromatherapy Massage

I had the lucky opportunity to experience my first Aromatherapy Massage, and I love it! Special thanks to my lovely sister Dori, I was able to receive a gift certificate to a local spa for my birthday gift! I always wanted to try an aromatherapy massage since I did take a class in aromatherapy and enjoy it! I decide to go to the Elements Massage in Buckhead to try the Aromatherapy Massage.

When I came into the spa, I smelled hints of lavender essential oil diffused in the air along with the soft, soothing music in the background. I decided to try tangerine essential oil called Vitality which has a slight floral scent of blended essential oils. The blended oils of Vitality are calming and can help improve your mood. I was so excited about trying this to relieve my stress that I have been feeling lately.

When I met with my masseur Cantrella, I told her this was the first time had an aromatherapy massage and she understood how anxious I was about it. She was very open and friendly and asked me to be as relaxed as possible. The table was heated, and the essential oils were added to a massaging lotion cream.

I did not know that my muscles are exhausted and restricted until Cantrella placed pressure. I have read about the benefits of using essential oils in a therapeutic massage. The essential oils that are in Vitality product are Frankincense, Palmarosa, Lavender, Bergamot, Cypress, Geranium and Sage. There are benefits with these essential oils. Frankincense health benefits are relieving chronic stress and anxiety, reducing pain and inflammation and boosting immunity. Palmarosa is for skin health and balancing. Lavender used for reducing stress, anxiety, sadness, agitation, depression and migraines. Bergamot opens the heart chakra and is uplifting to the mind, which eases stress and tension in mind, body, and soul. Cypress provides mentally grounding and stabilizing along with a herbaceous scent, fresh and woody. Geranium causes lifts in the spirit and eases nervous tension. Sage is intellectually stimulating and uplifting.

When Cantrella applied these essential oils lotion and did a deep tissue massage, I felt that I was in fully healed and relaxed! So the next time you decided to have a massage, tell your masseur to add aromatherapy. Not only will you feel good but also smell wonderful!
